Don't look back 2009-10
each piece 30 x 42 cm, collage on paper
Glossy magazines are designed to be passively flicked through, rather than for the reader to deeply engage with its subjects. Similarly, these collages were constructed by rapidly assembling fragments of magazine images, without 'looking back' at the previous image made, or considering their immediate aesthetic results. Only the collages that seem to suggest a'narrative' were then selected; a process similar to the small amount of 'useful' information that could be intellectually extracted from a glossy magazine.
