This series draws on imagery from a single vintage fashion magazine, where models were originally staged in domestic interiors. The figures are partially concealed by props or intersected by their surroundings, appearing to merge with the spaces they inhabit.
This deliberate ‘incompleteness’ disturbs the coherence of the original images, inviting the viewer to construct new narratives in which the figures assume altered roles and identities. Bodies become inseparable from their environments, existing somewhere between subject and object.
These works were developed in response to extended periods spent indoors, prompting a reflection on the relationship between the body and inhabited space. Here, the body begins to function as a prop, while objects and interiors take on bodily qualities—each becoming intimately bound to the other.
